Assistant Professor, Faculty of Nursing SUNY Niagara
We are delighted to announce that Lorretta A. Wheeler, MSN, BSN, RN has joined SUNY Niagara as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing.
Professor Wheeler brings over a decade of exceptional clinical experience in neonatal and pediatric care, having served in Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Units across top hospitals in New York, Florida, Texas, and beyond. Her extensive background includes roles in acute, critical, and pediatric triage care, along with diverse travel and PRN assignments that have enriched her practice with a broad, culturally competent lens.
Her teaching experience includes supporting future nurses as a tutor and educator in the SUNY Health Professional Opportunity Grant Program and completing a nursing education practicum at Galen College of Nursing, where she mentored students during clinical rotations and helped bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Professor Wheeler holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Walden University and is currently completing her Master of Science in Nursing. She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.
