Website Top 10 for November
November marks the beginning of the end of the fall semester. The most landed-on pages show visits to resources that current students use in connection with coursework, prospective students use to find out more about what SUNY Niagara offers, and employees use to manage business processes.

Although it’s not reflected in this list, traffic volume slows in November too. The number of new users plummeted 23.2% from October. The number of total site users fell 9.4%. Those who did visit spent 10.7% less time on the site, averaging about 48 seconds before moving on.
Another observation worth mentioning comes from our “events” analytics. An “event” is any action a website user takes. For example: submitting a form, scrolling, and viewing a page are all events. The event that the Public Relations office is watching is the “PDF click.” In November, there were nearly 5,000 PDF clicks. This is interesting because:
- PDFs often do not meet federal accessibility requirements that are a point of emphasis within SUNY.
- There are over 2,400 PDFs in the website asset library, all of which must comply with those accessibility requirements.
The committee recently formed to ensure that the college meets SUNY’s mandate of compliance with accessibility requirements by April likely will need to take some action to either remediate these 2,400 PDFs, remove them from the website, or some combination of remediation and removal. I anticipate that there will be more to come on that task if for no other reason than 2,400 is a lot of PDFs.
