Student Emergency Fund
In December, the Foundation launched an initiative to establish the Student Emergency Fund. Since then, the influx of students requesting emergency assistance has been overwhelming, which is why I am reaching out to our campus community for support.
The Student Emergency Fund provides short-term financial assistance to currently enrolled students experiencing unforeseen, temporary hardships that may impact their ability to remain enrolled and complete their education. A “true emergency” is defined as a sudden, unexpected financial hardship beyond a student’s control that creates an immediate barrier to academic persistence. The fund is intended to address urgent, one-time needs and is not designed to replace long-term financial aid or ongoing living expenses.
To ensure accountability and responsible stewardship, every request is carefully reviewed. Students must submit an application with supporting documentation to verify their emergency need. Requests are then evaluated by a review committee, which determines the appropriate level of support based on documented need and available funding. This process ensures donor contributions are distributed equitably and reach students facing genuine emergencies.
Please consider making a gift today to strengthen this critical resource and help ensure no student has to choose between basic needs and their education.
Thank you for helping put students first.
