2:00pm–Teaching at the End of the World Pt. III: Crafting and Assessing the Student Learning Encounter (SLE)—a Workshop
What do you want your students to encounter but not necessarily learn? Are there concepts or practices in your discipline that might be too advanced or provocative to teach but that students should indeed encounter? What experiences do you want students to have while doing the work for your class? What emotions do you want them to have? What seeds do you plant in your teaching that might not take root for years? Join us for an experimental workshop in which we’ll try to craft Student Learning Encounters as both impactful strategies for our courses and as valuable documents for our professional development. (Live in FRCAE only, no online or recording options available.)
