11A-12P Tuesday – Grand Opening! Family/Parent-Friendly Study & Feeding Rooms
Please join for a Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening of 3 New Family friend spaces in D-Building Today at 11AM.
- Ribbon cutting with President Holmes planned for 11:00AM followed by a self-guided tour of the 3 spaces, drinks and cookies until 12:00PM.
The 3 room locations include:
- Now revamped first floor room D116 “Lactorium” which is now the “Family Nursing/Feeding Room“
- D201D “ACE Family Study Room” in the Academic Center for Excellence and
- D407 “Library Family Study Room” on the 4th floor
These spaces join the children’s activity spaces in Admissions and Student Success for students with children seeking enrollment and support services. These spaces aren’t just “nice to have”…they directly address some of the biggest barriers adult learners (especially student-parents and caregivers) face in higher education. That’s why they’re strongly tied to retention, persistence, and sense of belonging.
A huge THANK YOU to the facilities staff who painted the rooms and built the furniture and to the ACE and Library staff who donated space in their areas to provide for increased access to our adult learner population.
Rooms were funded by an allocation from SUNY for “Adult Learners Leadership”, planned, and executed by Caitlin Wetherwax, Stephanie Florczak, and Tammy Bruno.
