Summer Reset: Rest, Reflect, Recharge

How can you be intentional about recovering from the academic year?

1️⃣ Take PTO. Actually, take it. Disconnect. The work will be there when you return. You need to not be there with it for a while.

2️⃣ Do something slow. Long walks. Cooking a meal you don’t rush. Reading something that has nothing to do with work. Slowness is actually restorative.

3️⃣ Reconnect with people. Burnout is isolating. A summer coffee with a friend or colleague who gets it can do more than you expect.

4️⃣ Rest without guilt. You earned it. Full stop. Chronic fatigue from a hard academic year doesn’t resolve in a weekend

5️⃣ Identify what drained you most this year. Not to dwell. To name it. You can’t protect yourself from something you haven’t acknowledged

6️⃣ Practice calendar therapy. Find one thing outside work that genuinely restores you. Schedule it in before work fills your calendar.

Burnout doesn’t announce itself until it’s already serious. Recovery has to be proactive, not reactive.
