Academic Center for Excellence: Updates & Reminders

Hello SUNY Niagara Community!

Welcome to week four of the semester — I hope the term is off to a strong start.

At this point in the semester, syllabus overviews have faded and the routine of academic workload is in full swing, making this an ideal time to remind students about the support available through the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE).

As a quick point of impact: over 1,400 students utilized ACE last semester, resulting in more than 2,000 tutoring appointments. We appreciate your continued partnership in encouraging students to engage early — tutoring is not designed solely as a catch-up service, but as proactive academic support that helps students stay organized, deepen understanding, and build confidence before challenges arise.

ACE also welcomes faculty referrals through the Faculty Feedback system. Submitting a referral allows our team to proactively reach out to students and connect them with tutoring or other appropriate supports. These referrals are an important part of early intervention and student success, and we value your participation in this process.

In addition to tutoring, ACE offers computers, printing, lounge seating, study materials, and collaborative space for students. (And yes — the Winter Olympics may be on in the background — we celebrate academic and athletic achievements alike.)

Here are a few Spring 2026 reminders you may wish to share with students:

• ACE tutoring services are available both in-person and online — students can attend in whatever way works best for them. Appointments can be scheduled in-person, by phone, or online.
• STAR-NY Online Tutoring is available Sunday–Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM–Midnight: https://www.starny.org/tutoring_schedule
• Coffee with a Tutor returns this Wednesday, February 11th at 11:00 AM (while supplies last). We hope you’ll stop by!
