The Business & STEM division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Assistant to support the daily operations of our Biology and Life Sciences laboratories. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality laboratory instruction by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, supporting faculty, and assisting students. This is a para-professional tenure-track position reporting to the Division Chair of Business & STEM.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Support & Preparation

- Prepare, set up, and break down materials for over 35 lab sections per semester.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory media, solutions, reagents, and cultures (bacterial and fungal).
- Maintain live cultures and biological specimens following established safety protocols.
- Autoclave and safely dispose of biological and chemical waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Assist students and faculty during laboratory activities as needed.
Facilities, Equipment & Inventory
- Maintain laboratory spaces, stockrooms, and prep areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Track, inventory, and organize laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Maintain computer and audiovisual equipment in laboratory spaces.
Purchasing & Budget Support
- Order, receive, and track laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Assist with budgets, purchasing documentation, and requisitions for Life Sciences programs.
- Work collaboratively with the Business & STEM Division on supply planning and resource needs.
