Childcare Center Students and Staff Visit with the President

This past Friday was Employee Appreciation Day.  I was just thrilled that so many staff and faculty took the time out of the busy day to stop by the office for donut holes, coffee, juice, and/or candy.  I’m still amazed at the number of individuals that let me know they have never visited the president’s office.  If you’re one of those individuals, my invitation to you still exists; there is no RSVP deadline!  If you have visited, please come again.

A major highlight of the day occurred when Christine Duquin and the staff from the Childcare Center brought up six of the children, ages 3 and 4.  As I think of the visit, I continue to smile while reflecting on the gifts they gave me.  One of the boys gave me this odd-shaped, red piece of paper and asked if I knew what he was bringing me.  Of course I told him that I could not quite make out what it was.  He excitedly said, “IT’S A SLICE OF PIZZA.  I BROUGHT YOU PIZZA.” Another gave me a piece of paper that was folded in half.  When I opened it, he informed me that it was a picture of me. The gifts and the students are a treasure. These children exuded such joy, such hope. I hope you feel that you can do the same.

Always remember:  Together, we grow hope for the future.
