12:00pm–Teaching with Purpose in the GenAI Era: Lessons from the Science of Learning
Generative AI arrived in every classroom in November 2022, whether faculty asked for it or not, and the temptation for many has been to respond with either uncritical adoption or reflexive restriction. Drawing on his new book with Lewis Ludwig, Todd Zakrajsek makes the case for a third path: let the science of learning, not the technology, set the agenda. In this session, Dr. Zakrajsek introduces the Adapt, Create, Embed progression and shows how time tested frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning, backward design, and Bloom’s Taxonomy can guide purposeful GenAI integration that strengthens student engagement rather than sidelining it. We invite you to join this installment of Alchemy’s AI on Campus series and bring your own questions about putting the science of learning back at the center of GenAI decisions. Only in the FRCAE Conference Room (D-104)
2:00pm–Creating Inclusive Video Content: Making Video Work for Everyone
