Mental Health First Aid Professional Development Training

The Wellness Center is sponsoring up to 30 SUNY Niagara faculty and staff members to complete the Mental Health First Aid training. The training takes place over two four-hour sessions on April 4th and 11th from 8:30am-12:30pm in room G211 and a boxed lunch will be provided!  You must attend both sessions to complete the training and gain a certificate.

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.  Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting these conversations by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental health challenge.

Please email Hannah Barner at hbarner@niagaracc.suny.edu to register for the course.
