Nursing AAS receives Continuing Accreditation from ACEN Announcement

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has granted continuing accreditation to SUNY Niagara’s associate degree program in nursing.

ACEN’s Board of Commissioners took this action at its September meeting following a thorough review of the program.

“Earning continuing accreditation for our Nursing program at SUNY Niagara reflects the commitment our faculty and staff make to our students every day,” said Dr. Martha Kershaw, dean of nursing, physical and allied health at SUNY Niagara. “We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and grateful to everyone whose dedication makes our institution a place where students are known, supported, and cared for.”

ACEN is one of the nation’s largest specialized accrediting agencies, accrediting nursing programs throughout the United States, its territories and internationally. External accreditation provides assurance to students, employers, policymakers and the public of an academic program’s quality.

The next ACEN visit to assess the SUNY Niagara Nursing program is scheduled for spring 2034. The accreditation granted in September will remain current until then.
