Sunsetting the College’s Old Website

Although the new SUNY Niagara website, sunynigara.edu, launched back in February, the PR office has kept the old website, niagaracc.suny.edu, live on the web. At least until the end of the academic year, we wanted to make sure that employees could continue to use—without any hassle—resources that were accessible through pages on the old site. Links to Banner forms are typical examples of this.

However, this week the office placed the old site into what’s called “maintenance mode.” This is the penultimate step toward removing it from the internet altogether.

The image above is a screenshot of what users will see when trying to visit www.niagaracc.suny.edu. That’s because maintenance mode closes pathways to resources on pages within the old site.

If you notice that you can’t get to a page that you had been accustomed to using, then please call Web Marketing Specialist Matt Gagaliardi at ext. 6897. He will address your issue. Usually, it’s a quick fix. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate any inconvenience.

Unless maintenance mode causes a flurry of issues (we don’t expect this), the PR office plans to permanently take down niagaracc.suny.edu June 30. Even then, it won’t be deleted. We’ll keep a local backup of the site should the need to access old content arise.
