SUNY Niagara Print Initiative

On Wednesday, May 21st, Toshiba delivered twenty (20) new devices—ten (10) color and ten (10) black-and-white—including one (1) device to NFCI.  An equal number of existing devices (20) were removed.  Final installation of several color devices requiring 20-amp outlets is scheduled for completion today (May 22nd), pending outlet upgrades by Operations.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is currently registering the new devices.  In the meantime, faculty and staff may continue to print using either the new or existing devices. Device registration is expected to be completed later today.  Once finalized, OIT will begin a phased rollout of the Pharos secure print system, beginning with student service areas.

Following installation of the Pharos secure print software on your computer, you will be able to register your SUNY Niagara credentials by following the instructions posted on the FYI page under the “Miscellaneous” section.

As a reminder, Toshiba will also be delivering an additional twenty-six (26) HP devices.  A delivery date has not yet been confirmed.  Until then, the campus will operate in a hybrid environment with a mix of secured and unsecured print capabilities.

Thank you to the OIT team for their efforts and support during Wednesday’s installation.

If you experience any issues with the new devices, please contact the OIT Help Desk at ext. 6730.
