SUNY Niagara Print Initiative

An update on the Print Initiative:
- Device Deployment & Pharos Installation:
Most Toshiba and HP devices have now been deployed. Our OIT colleagues are actively installing the Pharos Print application on campus computers.- If you do not have Pharos Print installed, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
- To check: Click the “Show hidden icons” arrow in the lower right corner of your screen. If you do not see an icon shaped like a copier (and labeled Pharos Print when you hover over it), the application is not installed.
- Paper Ordering & Costs:
Staff who currently order copier/printer paper from the “warehouse” should continue to do so. However, paper will no longer be billed separately. Instead, paper costs will be included in a per-page printing rate charged to each department (“Org”).- Charges will be based on individual user print volume and billed to their “home” Org.
- Remember: Color pages cost 6x more than black-and-white pages. Also, learn to love duplex printing.
- Upcoming Change to Print Queues:
Around the middle of next week, shared network print queues (e.g., PRTACT3, PRTCS, PRTNURS2) will be removed as available print locations. Moving forward, all printing will be through SUNY Niagara Secure.- If you have a special printing need (such as label printing), please contact John Eichner.
