Beilein records win No. 350 with men’s basketball on Feb. 4, Thunderwolves now gearing up for regional play Saturday
Congratulations to Men’s Basketball coach Bill Beilein, who recorded his 350th career win in a 101-96 overtime finish against Monroe CC, 101-96, on Feb. 4 in Sanborn. Beilein is in his 17th season with the program and was already SUNY Niagara’s all-time wins leader after passing Dan Bazzani’s total of 197 during the 2018-19 campaign. In his tenure with the Thunderwolves, Beilein has reached the NJCAA Region III Div. II Final Four 15 times (including this season), won five regional championships (2016-17, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2024-25) and has received Coach of the Year honors seven times.
The Thunderwolves have also advanced to the NJCAA Div. II national tournament five times (2016-17, 2018-19, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2024-25) under Beilein, who has developed seven NJCAA All-Americans and five 1,000-point career scorers (Chioke Marshall, Lamar Lovelace, Donel Cathcart, Eli Jones & Robby Seyler).
No. 2 SUNY Niagara (17-9) begins postseason play in the NJCAA Region III Div. II semifinal versus No. 3 Jamestown CC at 3 p.m. Saturday. A victory sends the Thunderwolves to face either No. 1 Monroe CC or No. 4 Erie CC in the championship at 1 p.m. Sunday.
