CONNECT FOUR: Thunderwolves extend win streak to four straight on Labor Day weekend road trip

SUNY Niagara women’s volleyball recorded three consecutive three-set sweeps over the Labor Day holiday. The Thunderwolves defeated Monroe Community College in WNYAC action Thursday in Rochester and followed up with wins against SUNY Corning Community College and SUNY Broome in a NJCAA Region III pod Saturday in Corning.

SUNY Niagara is now 4-1 this season. This is SUNY Niagara’s longest win streak since winning four consecutive matches from Oct. 4-9, 2014.

SUNY Niagara hosts SUNY Erie in a WNYAC tilt at 6 p.m. Thursday in Sanborn and look for its first win against the Kats since Oct. 9, 2014.

Oleski steps down as head golf coach after 14 seasons

SUNY Niagara golf head coach Matt Oleski has stepped down after 14 seasons to spend more time with his young family. SUNY Niagara Director of Athletics Bob McKeown announced the news Wednesday.

An eight-time NJCAA Region III Coach of the Year recipient, Oleski led the Thunderwolves to six regional championships (2019, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026) and four regional medalists. Oleski also had SUNY Niagara make seven NJCAA Division III appearances (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026), where the team’s score of 1,239 in 2025 is the lowest at nationals in school history.

Women’s Basketball Hosting Open Tryout Sept. 3

Attention faculty and adjunct professors: SUNY Niagara Women’s Basketball is holding an open tryout for any interested students. The tryout will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on Thursday September 3 in the Main Gym in H-Building on the Sanborn campus. Workout clothes and gym sneakers are recommended. Beilein, Men’s Basketball announces eight additions to ‘26-27 roster

SANBORN — Eight players, including two transfers, will join the SUNY Niagara men’s basketball roster for the 2026-27 season. Thunderwolves head men’s basketball coach Bill Beilein announced the news Thursday.

The newcomers include Naceive Fenton (Kettering, Ohio), Tyler Greene (Peekskill, N.Y.), Jaydian Johnson (Jamestown, N.Y.), Aidan Neumann (Wilson, N.Y.) Chris Powell (East Rochester, N.Y.), Maksym Shepel (Cherkasy, Ukraine), Pregnon “Milli” Titi (Queens, N.Y.) and Basti Williams (Manhattan, N.Y.).
