Film Screening: America’s Stairway

Join us for a special viewing of America’s Stairway, a documentary exploring Lockport’s historic Flight of Five locks on the Erie Canal. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the film’s creators.

Produced for national PBS distribution, America’s Stairway is the first documentary to examine the Erie Canal’s crowning achievement—Lockport’s Flight of Five—in relation to the natural and technological sublime. The film also connects these ideas to contemporary efforts in historic preservation, community identity, and heritage tourism.

The event will begin with an introduction by the film’s writers and producers: Paul Lamont, a distinguished alum of SUNY Niagara, and Bob Borgatti, SUNY Niagara professor emeritus.
