1571 Froschauer Treichler Family Bible Presentation

How did a Bible printed in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1571 make its way to Niagara County?

Professor Emeritus Jerald Truesdell will explore the origins and journey of this rare Bible, printed by Christoph Froschauer, a prominent 16th-century Zurich printer, and recently donated to SUNY Niagara by the Treichler family.

Written in German, the Bible bears a 1732 date on its cover, believed to mark the year it was rebound. Now 455 years old, this remarkable artifact offers a glimpse into the history of the people who carried it across generations and continents to Niagara County.

The Bible, currently on display in the SUNY Niagara Lewis Library entry level in a case graciously donated by the NCCC Foundation, will be available for viewing at the event.
