EIT Q & A Throwback Thursday
Q: What is the charge of the EIT Committee, who does it report to, what is its scope, and what authority does it have?
A: The EIT Committee is composed of 14 faculty and staff across multiple disciplines or departments and is responsible for developing an accessibility plan related to web, digital content, classroom, procurement, and library accessibility, and assisting with guidance to College officials, faculty, and staff on compliance areas of concern that may need to be remediated to be compliant. The SUNY system has created an Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) policy to guide the Committee in this endeavor. SUNY policy guidelines are outlined at: https://www.suny.edu/accessibility/eit/
SUNY Niagara’s EIT Officer is Carrie Dudek. SUNY defines the EIT Officer role as having the ability to “issue, update, and enforce any requirements, standards, or guidance supporting the SUNY policy… and assures the collaborative development of an accessibility plan.” Further, Maher Ghalayini, Ph.D., Salvatore Durante, and John Delate, Ph.D. are the College’s EIT Executive Leaders who oversee the College’s compliance with Title II in their respective areas.
