Q: How will the EIT policy affect internal TV monitor displays on campus? 

A: The person or department that is requesting content to be displayed on the internal TV monitors is responsible for making sure that their content is accessible. Any assistance needed with captioning videos or adding audio descriptions should be noted on an OIT helpdesk ticket.

The EIT Committee is composed of 14 faculty and staff across multiple disciplines and departments and is responsible for developing an accessibility plan related to web, digital content, classroom, procurement, and library accessibility, and assisting with guidance to College officials, faculty, and staff on compliance areas of concern that may need to be remediated to be compliant. The SUNY system has created an Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) policy to guide the Committee in this endeavor. A: Community members, employees, and students should not have to disclose that they have a disability and need accommodations in order to access digital content… digital content and mobile applications must be accessible to individuals with disabilities from the start, rather than through accommodations.
