SUNY OER Services is Looking for Subject Matter Experts!

SUNY OER Services is partnering with Carnegie Mellon University’s Open Learning Initiative (OLI) to revise and expand our online course catalogue—and we’re inviting SUNY instructors to collaborate as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in this exciting endeavor.

OLI is a nonprofit educational technology initiative that creates deeply interactive courses grounded in cognitive science and delivered through its custom-built platform, OLI Torus. This partnership brings SUNY faculty into a vibrant community of educators and researchers working to transform digital learning across New York State.

Why be a SME?
As a SME, you’ll co-author course content, gain recognition, and engage with cutting-edge learning design informed by research. Your classroom experience and disciplinary expertise are essential to building courses that truly resonate with students.

Current Opportunities:
We’re developing three flagship SUNY courses:

  • Introductory Psychology and American Government – Seeking SMEs
  • Technical Writing – Seeking instructors for focus group interviews
Not your field? No problem—more opportunities are on the horizon.
