Wishing Dr. Diane Pytlik-Flammia All the Best in Her New Role at Excelsior University!
With mixed emotions, I announce Dr. Diane Pytlik-Flammia’s departure from SUNY Niagara after almost ten years. The community and I extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Diane Pytlik-Flammia, our esteemed Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, as she embarks on an exciting new chapter in her distinguished career. Dr. Pytlik-Flammia will join Excelsior University as the Dean of Nursing, a testament to her exceptional leadership and deep commitment to nursing education.
During her dedicated tenure at SUNY Niagara, Dr. Pytlik-Flammia has been an invaluable asset to the institution. Her passion for academic excellence and unwavering support for faculty and students have left an indelible mark on our college. She has played a pivotal role in the success of the nursing programs with an average of over 90% success rate in the NCLEX examinations—a true testament to her leadership skills and the care of the program’s faculty and staff. Diane is a builder; she built new programs, new simulation labs, connected with community partners, and delivered an outstanding learning experience to learners at our institution. Diane built new academic programs such as the Diagnostic Imaging Degree, Sonography, and others to support the demand for health care workers in the local community. Her insightful leadership and collaborative spirit will be deeply missed.
Dr. Pytlik-Flammia’s impressive educational background has undoubtedly informed her successful academic career. She holds a Doctor of Health Administration, a Master of Nursing Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Diane started her education journey at SUNY Niagara (NCCC), completing an Associate Degree in Nursing. Her impressive education and career trajectory in nursing have made her a commanding voice in the field, leading to her being elected President of the Council of Associate Degree Nursing in New York State.
Her transition to Excelsior University as the Dean of Nursing is a natural career progression, aligning perfectly with her passion for nursing education and proven leadership capabilities. We are confident that she will bring the same dedication, vision, and collaborative spirit to her new role and shape the future of nursing professionals at Excelsior.
While we are saddened to see Dr. Pytlik-Flammia depart from SUNY Niagara, we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and wish her the best in this exciting new endeavor. We do not doubt that she will succeed and make significant contributions to the nursing program at Excelsior University. We have a colleague and friend in Diane at Excelsior!
