Wrestler wins weekly honor

Congratulations to freshman grappler Te’Shaun Mathews for being named Region III Men’s Wrestling Athlete of the Week. Mathews went 3-1 and reached the semifinals of the annual John Summa Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Baldwin Wallace University. He won via pinfall, technical fall and decision before dropping a narrow 3-0 match to the eventual champion at 149 pounds. Mathews, who is now 27-2 on the season, medically defaulted to a sixth-place finish.
