Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health and Human Services (HHS) Section 504 requirements, and New York State law require that institutions ensure that digital content and mobile applications are accessible to individuals with disabilities from the start, rather than through accommodations. SUNY has created an Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) policy to guide SUNY schools in meeting the federal and state compliance deadline of April 24, 2026.
