Supporting Survivors: Connecting Community Members to Domestic and Sexual Violence Resources
Libraries and community organizations are among the first places individuals turn to when seeking help—especially those experiencing domestic abuse or sexual assault. These trusted public spaces offer privacy, accessibility, and support without requiring individuals to immediately disclose personal information. This makes them critical touchpoints for connecting survivors with professional help.
This session is designed for librarians, educators, and community leaders in Niagara county and the surrounding region who want to confidently direct individuals to appropriate services. Representatives from YWCA of the Niagara Frontier will provide an overview of support services and county-specific resources. Participants will explore how their institutions can foster safe, informed pathways to help—and how to empower their communities to respond to sexual violence through awareness and access to resources.
